January and February has been a very busy time for us at the California office of The JESUS Film Project®, catching up after the holidays at the office.
And as for me, I’ve had lots of music going on.

SOUTHERNESS

Only a Southerner knows the difference between a hissie fit and a conniption fit, and that you don't "have" them, you "pitch" them.

Only a Southerner knows how many fish, collard greens, turnip greens, peas, beans, etc., make up a "mess."

Only a Southerner knows exactly how long "directly" is, . . . as in "Going to town, be back directly."

Even Southern Babies know that "Gimme some sugar" is not a request for the white, granular sweet substance that sits in a pretty little bowl in the middle of the table.

● All Southerners know exactly when "by and by" is. They might not use the term, but they know the concept well.

● Only a Southerner knows instinctively that the best gesture of solace for a neighbor who's got trouble is a plate of hot fried chicken and a big bowl of potato salad.  If the neighbor's trouble is a real crisis, they also know to add a large banana puddin!

● Only Southerners grow up knowin the difference between "right near" and "a right far piece." They also know that "just down the road" can be one mile or twenty miles.

● Only a Southerner both knows and understands the difference between a redneck, a good ol' boy, and po' white trash.

● No true Southerner would ever assume that the car with the flashing turn signal is actually going to make a turn.

● A Southerner knows that "fixin'" can be used as a noun, a verb or an adverb.

● Only Southerners make friends while standing in lines, . . .and when they're in line, they talk to everybody!

● Put 100 Southerners in a room, and half of them will discover they're related, even if only by marriage.

● In the South, y'all is singular, all y'all is plural.

● Southerners know grits come from corn and how to eat them.

● Every Southerner knows tomatoes with eggs, bacon, grits and coffee are perfectly wonderful; that red-eye gravy is also a breakfast food; and that fried green tomatoes are not a breakfast food.

● When you hear someone say, "Well, I caught myself lookin,'" you know you are in the presence of a genuine Southerner!

● Only a true Southerner says "sweet tea" and "sweet milk." Sweet tea indicates the need for sugar and lots of it.  Sweet milk means you don't want buttermilk.

● A true Southerner knows you don't scream obscenities at little old ladies who drive 30 mph on the freeway. You just say "Bless her heart" and go your own way.

                                 Music

I had the privilege of hosting “Open Mic” at The Neighborhood Cup, 1 Journey in Aliso Viejo (next door to the library) in both January and February.  In the past it has been only on the first Friday, but has changed to the first and third Friday.  So if you happen to be in Southern California during one of those times, drop by and say “hi.”

Then in January, I was asked to participate in “High Five” to be one of five artists performing at Green Earth Coffee in Lake Forest, CA.  I did seven songs, both country and country/gospel (original and covers), plus a duet with the host, Ben Givens.  It was a fun time.

Then I participated in Open Mic at The Gate, a church in Rancho Santa Margarita, which I do when I’m available on the second Friday of the month.  I lead worship at Church in the Park on Sundays in Lake Forest, then on January 29th I was asked by my pastor to come and sing at an assisted living place in San Juan Capistrano.  Once a month I attend and perform at Worship Musicians Association of South Orange County.

My congratulations go out to my dear BFF, Joan Harris Atwater on the completion of her brand new CD of original songs.  I’m so glad she finally did this project.  It’s been a long time coming.  I can’t wait to hear the finished product!

It’s nearing that time, so, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  May March be full of God’s abundant blessings and good health.

           The JESUS Film Project® Mission

To Take the Gospel to Everyone, Everywhere, Whatever it takes!”

It’s so exciting to witness God’s hand stirring the hearts of men, women and children using the JESUS film.  That’s why I couldn’t wait to send this information out.  Though some folks have a dislike for the “digital age,” The JESUS Film Project® is taking every advantage of it.  God has truly led us all along the way and we can’t wait to see what He is going to do now.  Be encouraged as you read the exciting and interesting information regarding our Digital Media Distribution - the mission, the plans, the strategy and the exciting expectancy!  For those of you who God is speaking to, we thank you for helping us reach the lost.  We are so grateful.

DIGITAL MEDIA DISTRIBUTION
LEVERAGING WEB AND MOBILE TECHNOLOGY

It is projected that smart phone sales will outpace computer sales in 2012.  When the Digital Media Distribution system is complete, classic and new JESUS film resources (in most languages) will be available to everyone in the world with access to the Internet via mobile devices (including iPads, tablets, smart phones and laptops).  This digital technology will enable them to watch the film, hear the gospel, and share films with others via the Internet.  JESUS film resources will also be available to field staff and partners.  Five languages of JESUS can be fully downloaded online worldwide with one large gift.  If you wish to know more about it, feel free to call me at 1-800-387-4040 ext 7539.

We’ll be just one step closer to bringing everyone to His kingdom. The need number is 38011.
