Oldies but Goodies

 

       My oh my…Time flies when your having fun!  Let’s see I’m ?B#E!E#P#* years old and I remember so many things from days gone by.  Do you?  The joy, the pain, the laughter, the tears and aahh… the fun!  I’m going to take a reverse trip back to the 50’s starting with PC’s.  WOW, what a valuable tool it is.  An amazing way of communication.  Digital TV...Another amazingly clear technological way of seeing life from around the world.  Before 9/11 when life was or at least seemed to be safer. I remember, I was doing some work for a travel agency and we were busting at the seams with business when the tragedy of 9/11 happened.  Just about everything changed.

       The nineties brought us cloning, the Hubble telescope, Pokemon, more major earthquakes, Y2K?  Then we go farther back…remember Name That Song?  Hide and seek, making homemade bread and rolls from scratch?  Hula hoops, mother may I, 25-cent allowance, our gang, the Three Stooges?  Catching lightning bugs in a jar, looking and counting the stars at night, laughing so hard that your stomach hurt?  Eating Kool-aid powder with sugar?  When nobody was prettier than your Mom?  When laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes and even towels inside? When Grandpa said “pull my finger?”  War was a card game?  When love was true and lasting?  When music was clean, fun, innocent and songs were sing-able and memorable?

 

       Well, that brings me back to the future….uhh I mean today!  Not everybody had Jesus back then.  Many of us were lost as a goose but we still made it to the point of God’s mercy and grace . I thank God for my salvation.  I know He was watching over me then and He is guiding me today!  So there were a lot of oldies but goodies and music has its share of melodic memories today. Okay, I guess this is a sneaky way of leading into the introduction of my first ever, one and only, uniquely presented CD project scheduled for release this May.  It’s called “A Parody of Oldies But Goodies.” It contains 22 songs from the past that the Lord and I have re-written or re-worded:  Remember “My Girl”, “Sea Cruise”, “The Bop”, “Sweet Holy Spirit”, “Blueberry Hill”, “It Must Be Love”, “Don’t Be Cruel”, “Lost In The 50’s Tonight”, “Does Ft. Worth Ever Cross Your Mind", “Great Balls of Fire”, “Since I Met You Baby”, “Mountain of Love”, "1982", “Wind Beneath My Wings”, “Hey, Hey Good Lookin”, “Rollin With The Flow”, “Elvira”, “I Love How You Love Me”, “Joy To The World”, "He Don't Love You Like I Love You", "Amazed", "Mustang Sally". Yep, we're taking a blast from the past and creating a fun filled Christian ride into the future. Plus, we're making new sweet memories that will leave you happy and blessed to be a Christian!

 

       Life was so much more simple back then.  A lot of things I choose to remember and many things I have forgotten.  They were the do's and the don’ts.  The have's and have not’s.  The saved and the lost.  The future today is very unstable. We work to survive and the cost of living is becoming more unreachable.  America is indeed still a great country.  We have been blessed over the years. However all the freedoms of the past are fading.  It’s only through the blood of Christ that we have a chance of survival.  Hey, meeting the bills head on is becoming a wreck looking for a place to happen.  Where you are in your walk is something only you and God know. As for me, I’m trying, I’m praying, I’m believing, I’m hoping, I’m trusting and I am a Christian.  The future on earth is getting shorter for me.  So, I choose to love my Lord, love my wife, love my family, and love my friends and to use my time in a wise, effective and meaningful manner.  Elaine and I want to pray for you. Let us know your request, and please pray for us. We seek God’s will for your life and ours.  May God bless you, and through you He will bless others.
