The Country Doc says. . . . . . .

CLEANING OUT OUR CLOSETS

Recently, many have been shocked to read about Ted Haggard, a pastor from Colorado Springs who has been involved in immoral sexual relationships.  It left a lot of questions in a lot of minds.  How could this have happened? A lot of people started pointing fingers and wagging their tongues.
We are reminded that the Lord in His sermon on the mount told us to take the beams out of our own eyes

Dr. Leon Joplin

before we start trying to remove a speck in our brother’s eye.  I must admit I have been one of those people who are quick to judge others.  It has been a hard habit to break.
When I forget what the Lord taught, He is quick to remind me that He is still working on me. What concerns me more about the Ted Haggard story and others like it is this question that I pose: Has the Church become so sick, so liberal, so involved with the world that we have forgotten what sin is? Is the Church itself sick?
I have been blessed to attend a local church where the pastor is always on our case about cleaning out our own closets. A lot of us have some “secret sins.” We know we are wrong, but just can‘t give it up. Oh, they may not be
“big sins,” but from what I have read
in my Bible…. sin is sin and it doesn‘t matter whether it is telling a “white lie” or committing murder; it is still sin and the wage of sin is death.
I believe the reason we don’t see miracles anymore is the sin that is in the Church itself. We sit in the pew each Sunday thinking that the act of “going to church” somehow makes things right with God. The truth is, the Lord never said that would get us into Heaven. Pew sitting has never been defined as a Holy Act.
If we want to bring back the miracles of the early Church and see revival in our Land, we need to clean out our own closets. Revival starts with me.

Until next time . . . .
                                              Leon Joplin
