"Therefore, my Beloved Brethren,
be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as yet know that your labor is not vain in the Lord"

1 Corinthians 15:58

Recognizing the
Money Changer

This last year, I attended two large venue Christian concerts in which several nationally recognized Christian artists appeared. There were over 3000 people in attendance at each of the concerts.
One of the concerts was held in the auditorium of one of the largest evangelical churches in the city. The artists arrived in their million dollar buses and wore the finest tailored clothing. Their skills were awesome. Their music and lyrics were impeccable. The sound equipment was set just right. The lighting was perfect. I was impressed by how their music moved the audience. I could not wait until they offered an invitation to accept Christ.
I knew without a doubt that there were non-believers in the audience. As each of the concerts came near the end, I fully expected an invitation. Instead, there was an invitation to the CD sales tables in the lobby. I couldn’t believe my ears. The climax of the entire concert should have pointed to Christ. Quite the opposite, it pointed to the artists sales tables. They even brought their production the stage and gave a short commercial about
their individual products. It reminded me of a story in the Bible. It was the story of the moneychangers in the Temple. I questioned whether the Lord would have overturned some of the CD tables at this event.
Jesus said this in Matthew 6:33, “But, seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” I am sure that it takes a lot of money to keep a $1,000,000 bus running. Don’t get me wrong, I am sure there are God-fearing artists with $1,000,000 buses. I don’t have problems with them selling CDs. We have to do something to finance our ministries. However, when the purpose of the ministry becomes making money, one is in danger of making money from the blood of Christ. That would be the same motive of Judas and the moneychangers. When it comes time to enter Heaven, they might just hear these words, “depart from me…I never knew you.”

     Until next time . . . .

 “SELF” CPR

What do you do if if you have a heart attack while you are alone? A study was done on this procedure at Johnson Medical Center and is now incorporated into their CPR classes. It’s called “cough CPR” and it could save your life.
Let’s say it’s 6:15 pm and you’re driving home after a hard day at work. You’re really tired, and you suddenly start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to radiate down your arm and up into your jaw. You’re only about five minutes from the nearest hospital. Unfortunately, you don’t know if you can make it that far. What do you do?
Without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. You can help yourself by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without stopping until help arrives or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.
Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs, and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pres-sure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.
Remember this. It could save your life.
